Rupee weakens against US dollar on Thursday
Apr-24-2025
Indian rupee weakened against the US dollar in early trade on Thursday, after the American currency regained some ground after hitting a three-year low with optimism around a potential de-escalation in US-China trade tensions. Rupee sentiments fell further weighed down by weak domestic equities amid escalation of tensions between India and Pakistan after 26 tourists were killed in the terrorist attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district on Tuesday. However, some falls were limited by foreign fund inflows into Indian capital markets. Foreign institutional investors bought equities worth Rs 3,332.93 crore on a net basis on Wednesday, exchange data showed.

The partially convertible currency is currently trading at 85.59, weaker  by 14 paise from its previous close of 85.45 on Wednesday. The currency touched a high and low of 85.6725 and 85.5650 respectively.
