New Delhi CM may take oath on February 20
Feb-17-2025

The next chief minister of Delhi along with the council of ministers is likely to take oath at the city's famous Ramlila Maidan on February 20. The swearing-in ceremony, to be attended by Bhartiya Janata Party's (BJP) top brass, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will be held at 4.30 pm.

The BJP has not revealed the chief minister's name yet. A BJP legislative party meeting, which was to be held on Monday, has been postponed to most likely Wednesday when the party will finalise on the candidate for the chief minister's post.

The top contenders include Parvesh Verma, who defeated AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal from the New Delhi seat. Rekha Gupta (Shalimar Bagh), Vijender Gupta (Rohini), Satish Upadhyay (Malviya Nagar), Ashish Sood (Janakpuri), Pawan Sharma (Uttam Nagar), and Ajay Mahawar (Ghonda), are also among names predicted to be the chief minister.

The BJP secured 48 of the 70 Assembly seats in the Delhi elections, marking the end of the Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) 10-year rule in the national capital.
