Jan-15-2025

Former Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal filed his nomination papers from the New Delhi constituency for the upcoming assembly elections.

Arvind Kejriwal offered prayers at Hanuman and Valmiki temples ahead of filing his nomination. AAP Chief also led a ‘padyatra’ from the AAP office to the New Delhi district magistrate’s office, where he filed his nomination. Hundreds of AAP workers, carrying party flags, walked with the former chief minister.

After filing the nomination papers, Kejriwal said, ‘The love and blessings given by the people of Delhi in the last 10 years have given me the strength and inspiration to work with full dedication and spirit of service. I have full faith that the people of Delhi will choose the politics of work this time, too’. Attacking the BJP, Kejriwal said the party has no vision, no chief ministerial face and no narrative.

New Delhi is one of the most high-profile seats among the 70 assembly constituencies of the national capital. Kejriwal is contesting against BJP candidate Parvesh Verma and Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit for the New Delhi seat. Kejriwal, won the seat three times: in the 2013, 2015, and 2020 assembly polls.

The ruling AAP has already announced its candidates for all 70 assembly seats. BJP has announced its candidates for 59 seats. The last date for filing nominations is January 17 and the date for scrutiny of nominations is January 18. The last date for withdrawal of candidature is January 20. The Delhi assembly polls will be held in a single phase on February 5 and the counting of votes will take place on February 8.
