Gold futures finish lower as strong US GDP revives Fed rate hike bets
Oct-30-2026

Gold futures finished lower on Thursday as the safe-haven appeal of bullion faded following stronger-than-expected US third-quarter GDP growth of about 3.4% and hotter-than-expected inflation data, with prices rising approximately 0.5% month over month in September. Growing market expectations that the Federal Reserve will raise interest rates by 25 basis points at its upcoming December meeting also weighed on investment demand for the yellow metal.

Gold futures for December delivery down by $20.20 or 0.5% to settle at $4,031.40 an ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile. Spot gold dipped by $28.94 or 0.72% to $ 3,992.58 an ounce.
