Copper futures settle lower on Thursday
Oct-23-2026

Copper futures settled lower on Thursday as a massive influx of London Metal Exchange warehouse inventories eased supply anxieties, while a broader technology stock selloff driven by artificial-intelligence growth doubts also dampened red metal prices. Meanwhile, investors were highly focused on the upcoming Federal Reserve meeting scheduled for October 27-28, 2026, at the conclusion of which the Fed is expected to announce its interest rate decision.

Copper futures for December delivery fell $0.1815 to settle at $6.3980 a pound on the Comex metals division of New York Mercantile Exchange. Copper on the London Metal Exchange was down by 1.94% at $14,078 a ton.
