Gold futures finish sharply higher on safe haven appeal
Oct-17-2026

Gold futures finished sharply higher on Friday, buoyed by the safe-haven appeal of the bullion driven by a technology-led equity sell-off and ongoing geopolitical tensions. Additionally, softer dollar and declining bond yield notes also lifted the yellow metal investments. However, gold for the most active contract had marked 0.84% loss for the week.

Gold futures for December delivery up by $11.00 or 0.26% to settle at $4,181.10 an ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile. While, spot gold down by $5.86 or 0.14% to $4,165.58 an ounce.
