Copper futures trade higher in early deals on Monday
Oct-12-2026

Copper futures were trading higher in early deals on Monday due to ongoing supply disruptions in Chile, where two workers died on Sunday after an avalanche struck Codelco’s massive El Teniente mine, alongside a continuing strike at Antofagasta’s Centinela mine. Copper prices gained further as falling crude oil prices fuelled hopes that the Russia-Ukraine energy ceasefire deal will ease global fuel shortages, reduce inflationary pressures, and lessen the need for aggressive monetary tightening by the US Federal Reserve.

Copper futures for December delivery gained $0.0475 or 0.71% at $6.7395 a pound on the Comex metals division of New York Mercantile Exchange.
