Copper futures settle higher on Monday
Oct-06-2026
Copper futures settled higher on Monday as Friday’s weaker-than-expected US employment data reduced expectations for further Federal Reserve interest rate hikes, while growing expectations of major mining strikes in Chile outweighed pressure from a strong American currency overseas. Traders await the return of top metal consumer China from its week-long Golden Week holiday on Thursday to gauge post-holiday physical demand.

Copper futures for December delivery rose $0.092 to settle at $6.6410 a pound on the Comex metals division of New York Mercantile Exchange. Copper on the London Metal Exchange was up by 1.13% at $14,420 a ton.
