Oct-03-2026

Crude oil futures closed lower on Friday after a report said European Union countries have discussed a French proposal to release diesel reserves in response to U.S. pressure to help cool surging fuel prices linked to the Iran war. Under the proposal, Europe will deploy 100 million barrels of reserves over the next four months with a frontloaded substantial diesel release within the first 20 days.

Benchmark crude oil futures for November delivery decreased by $1.76 or 1.90% to settle at $91.11 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Brent crude for December delivery fell by $0.06 or 0.06% to settle at $102.25 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
