Copper futures settle higher on Friday

Copper futures settled higher on Friday after unexpectedly weak US employment data reduced expectations of an interest-rate increase at the October Fed meeting, while ongoing global supply issues, including production drops and potential strike threats in Chile also supported copper sentiment. Although trades remained thin due to China’s Golden Week National Day holiday and is scheduled to reopen on October 8, 2026.

Copper futures for December delivery rose $0.011 to settle at $6.5490 a pound on the Comex metals division of New York Mercantile Exchange. Copper on the London Metal Exchange was up by 0.11% at $14,258.50 a ton.
