Copper futures settle down as US dollar firms overseas
Sep-02-2026
Copper futures settled lower on Tuesday as the US dollar firmed against its major peers overseas, while rising Brent crude prices and a global bond selloff sent yields to their highest level since 2008. Besides, escalating tensions in the Middle East also dimmed copper's appeal. Meanwhile, copper price stalled short of a record high as output from Chile, the world's largest copper producer, slumped to a 2011 low due to severe storms.

Copper futures for December delivery fell $0.087 to settle at $6.6005 a pound on the Comex metals division of New York Mercantile Exchange. Copper on the London Metal Exchange was down by 0.14% at $14,274.50 a ton.
