Crude oil futures end lower amid profit-booking

Crude oil futures ended lower on Monday as investors took profits following recent gains and awaited details of a new U.S. sanctions package against Iran. Meanwhile, the U.S. is mounting a massive economic offensive against Iran in an effort to pressure Tehran into reaching a deal with Washington.

Benchmark crude oil futures for October delivery declined by $2.05 or 2.35% to settle at $85.01 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Brent crude for October delivery decreased by $2.22 or 2.35% to settle at $92.17 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
