Copper futures trade lower as dollar strengthens
Aug-24-2026

Copper futures are trading lower on Monday as the US dollar strengthened overseas and as large inflows into LME-registered warehouses eased immediate supply tightness. Meanwhile, investors monitored geopolitical developments as the US prepared sweeping new economic sanctions against Iran, which added to inflation concerns. However, fall was limited by hopes of additional Chinese fiscal measures to boost economic growth. Top producer Chile also expects copper production to decline this year as ongoing disruptions continue to affect mines and development projects.

Copper futures for September delivery fell $0.0315 or 0.48% at $6.5555 a pound on the Comex metals division of New York Mercantile Exchange.
