Crude oil futures end higher amid supply disruption concerns

Crude oil futures ended higher on Wednesday with expectations for a diplomatic breakthrough in the ongoing U.S.-Iran crisis fading, while the closure of Strait of Hormuz continues, intensifying concerns over supply disruptions for a protracted period. Besides, the American Petroleum Institute (API) data revealed that US crude oil inventories fell by 328,000 barrels in the week ending August 14th, following a 9.07 million-barrel increase in the previous week.   

Benchmark crude oil futures for September delivery rose by $0.89 or 1.05% to settle at $85.83 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Brent crude for October delivery gained by $0.60 or 0.66% to settle at $91.62 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
