Gold futures finish higher on safe haven buying
Aug-18-2026

Gold futures finished higher on Monday, as the softer US economic data dulled expectations for Federal Reserve interest rate hikes and buoyed yellow metal investments. Besides, safe haven appeal of the bullion amidst ongoing Middle East geopolitical tensions and increased central bank buying triggered the positive trend in yellow metal rates.

Gold futures for December delivery up by $36.40 to 0.82% to $4,473.70 an ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile. However, spot gold down by $24.29 or 0.55% to $4,391.70 an ounce.
