Copper futures end higher on Tuesday
Aug-12-2026
Copper futures ended higher on Tuesday after the smelter that processes ore from the giant Grasberg mine was halted because of a boiler leak over the weekend. Global supply tightness also helped copper prices trade higher. Meanwhile, traders were cautious ahead of the US consumer inflation data to gauge whether the Federal Reserve will hold interest rates steady or implement a rate hike at its upcoming September 15-16 meeting.

Copper futures for September delivery gained $0.018 to settle at $6.6340 a pound on the Comex metals division of New York Mercantile Exchange. Copper on the London Metal Exchange was down by 0.02% at $14,156.50 a ton.
