Crude oil futures settled marginally lower on Thursday despite an escalation in the Gulf war. Iran has intensified strikes targeting important energy infrastructure in the Gulf area. An Iranian drone attack damaged a Saudi refinery on the Red Sea that was intended as a backup export route.

Benchmark crude oil futures for April delivery decreased $0.18 or 0.19% to settle at $96.14 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Brent crude for May delivery surged $1.27 or 1.18% to settle at $108.65 a barrel on London's Intercontinental Exchange.
